First Post. YAY!
So, i'm starting a blog or journal or whatever title you need to make a meaning about what this is. It's something I never thought I would do, even after all the blogs I had as a teenager about annoying girls, boys, and all those things we think are important as teenagers.
A realization occurred to me after choosing to do this, and it was that I actually had set a goal over a year ago to start a blog within 5 years... I never intentionally focused on that goal (it was mostly a filler) and now it's really happening. So great!
Where do I start?
It's been an interesting year so far. Life is DEFINITELY happening (as it does to us all) and I'm learning along the way how to really accept it and continue onward and upward. It's great really, and even though a year ago I never would have dreamed I would be where I am today, I can confidently say that I'm really glad at how everything has come about.
Ir-regardless, the intention behind this blog is to document change, post my thoughts, and just really create an awesome environment to share unreservedly with anyone that wants to listen.
That being said, you don't have to read this. It's your choice. :-)
So what's up with me lately?
Well, great question.
I have been juggling back and forth a couple of new ideas on a different lifestyle that I want to try on. And by lifestyle, I don't mean 'diet' but for the most part, it is just a new way to eat and prepare food.
A great friend of mine really brought some awesome information to my attention about the benefits of living an animal-free life. Not just meat, but having any product coming from an animal eliminated completely out of the person's life.
I'm super interested.
I'm also a little scared and nervous about the changes to come along with it, so committing to that completely is not something I am quite ready to do. I need more education and understanding before I'm ready for that.
So the decision I HAVE made is this...
Meat free. for 30 days
Basically, I know that if eventually the end result is to be completely free of all animal product, then I know that for ME I need to take it in steps.
Today was the start of it and so far it totally seems do-able.
Day 1 consisted of :
Whole Oats with almond butter and cinnamon
PB&J
Banana, Apple
Cookies (100-calorie pack)
Almonds
Fried Pickles (woops)
Egg and Potato taquitos
So- I realize, it's obviously not the healthiest, but I haven't gone shopping yet for this new lifestyle so I had to make due with what was available to me.
Tomorrow will be better. (i'm going shopping)
Why am I doing this?
Another great question.
I'm not an activist for any PET organization, nor am I going to start making people wrong for eating meat and giving them a hard time. I also am not in search for attention and being difficult when eating with other omnivores. I'm strictly doing this out sheer curiosity. I just want to try something new, unfamiliar to my life, and see what kind of effects I get. Almost like an experiment. It's pretty awesome. You should try it!
Don't worry
I am obviously going to write about it and keep this up to date with how everything is going. Maybe some of you might think that is contradictory to what I just mentioned about not wanting attention...but...I have no expectations. really. this is for me.
It's exciting, i'm excited about it, its something I look forward to learning more about, and it's completely out of my comfort zone. My wish is not for everyone to understand me fully in my choices but rather just support them fully.
-I shared it with my family and they are taking bets on how long it will last.
Life is great. I'm great.
and until next time
*courage, love, and confidence
